courtesy begins with me and you

I am now watching the channel U's discussion program and they are discussing abt the courtesy of Singaporean...
I can say... we lack courtesy... many of us are ill bred despite being such an advanced society... why is it that we still do not learn to be gracious?
i think singaporean are a selfish bunch, who only want to do things which can give them some benefits...
